Update - Books I have been reading lately

I would like to begin by apologising for disappearing of the face of this earth. I have had numerous health problems, but now I am back with a vengeance and raring to go.

So, how has my American Literature attempt been going so far? I have to admit, it hasn't been going so good. I don't know if it is because of my poor attention span, as a result of being sick, or if the books are just not my cup of tea, but I just cannot seem to get into them. I loved the first half of Catch 22, but then it just tailed off and I lost interest.

I have been reading many Children's Books, for research for my novel, and have been reading L.M.Montgomery books in a fit of nostalgia. I am also trying a book about Abraham Lincoln, but can't seem to find the time to dedicate to it so that I read it properly.

And so I will persevere, but no promises with this one!

Anne of Green Gables, by L.M.Montgomery

First and foremost I have to admit that I am a big, fat sook with this book (rhyme unintended). I have read this book countless times and cry every.single.time.

Anne is an orphan. She has never been loved, never been wanted, and spent her childhood raising other people's children.

Matthew and Marilla are lonely isolates getting on in age, who decide to adopt a boy to help them around the farm.

Providence steps in and brings the lively, imaginative young girl to them instead. A lucky mistake, it turns out.

This is such a beautiful, beautiful story! You will laugh, you will cry, you will read it again and again and again. Join Anne as she finally finds a life filled with love. Follow her many mishaps and misadventures as she journeys from girlhood to womanhood.

This book would be loved by young girls and older women alike, and although rather old fashioned it still rings true to modern life. If you want a feel good book, read Anne of Green Gables!
